It has been over nine years since JK Energy Consulting, LLC (JKEC) was formed. Since that time, JKEC has grown to serve more than 65 clients. JKEC’s mission remains the same: To provide independent, objective advice to consumers and producers of energy.
Over the years, JKEC has assisted municipalities, utilities, state agencies, public power districts and others on a variety of different projects:
- Power supply planning, including negotiation assistance on purchased power agreements
- Assistance with transmission service access, interconnection, RTO tariff reviews and negotiation
- Assistance with determining feasibility of various power supply resources.
- Cost of Service / Rate Design assistance for municipal utilities and rural public power districts, including impact of major capital improvements, implementation of major rate increase and rate structure changes
- Assistance in reviewing renewable resources, including wind and hydro-electric resources
- Compliance assessment and training on NERC electric reliability standards
- Long-term financial projections, including developing rates for economic development purposes
- Integrated Resource Planning, including power supply analysis and demand side measures
- Assistance with merger reviews in Federal and state regulatory proceedings, including transmission rates, reliability impacts and other operational issues
